2019 CERIS OPEN DAY |
On October 9th and 10th, CERIS has promoted the 2019 CERIS Open Day which took place outside IST (specifically, at the Inatel Foz do Arelho Hotel), in an informal environment, in order to contribute to the conviviality within the CERIS community and thus strengthen their identity. The program of the initiative was diverse, including motivational lectures on challenging topics, oral presentations and playful actions, fundamentally team building. Click here to have a glance. |
Best Paper Award |
Ceris is pleased to inform that the PhD student Luís Vieira has received the Vinnakota Award 2019 for best student-authored paper presented at the Annual Stability Conference, with the work "Local buckling of RHS members with small-to-large corner radii subjected to combinations of axial force and biaxial bending", co-authored by CERIS Members Rodrigo Gonçalves and Dinar Camotim.

On 11th of March 2019, Professor Fernando Branco was awarded the title "Advisory Professor", from Tongi University, Shanghai-China. During the visit, and in the role of the President of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), Professor Fernando Branco presided over the awards ceremony "Outstanding Structure Award", which celebrated two major works of Civil Engineering: the Shanghai Tower and the Phoenix Center (Beijing) - TV report.

National Patent |
The national patent PT108864 B was granted by INPI on 17th of July 2019 to the CERIS researchers: Inês Flores-Colen; António Soares; Jorge de Brito, with also de colaboration of CQFM (+) researchers from IST. This invention has the title: Thermal mortars with subcritical silica aerogel and natural lightweight aggregates.

Best Poster Award |
Researcher Alban Kuriqi was recognized with the best poster award entitled "A Global Overview on Ecological Impact of Small-Scale Hydropower Plant" (+), co-authored by M.D. Bejarano, António Pinheiro, Alvaro Sordo-Ward and Luis Garrote. The poster was presented at the 6th biennial Symposium of the International Society for River Science, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, September 8-13, 2019.
