"The Institution of Structural Engineers" (Reino Unido) atribuiu ao artigo "Local-Distortional Interaction in Cold-Formed Steel Columns: Mechanics, Testing, Numerical Simulation and Design", da autoria de André Dias Martins (Aluno de Doutoramento do DECivil), Dinar Camotim (Professor do DECivil), Pedro Borges Dinis (Professor do DECivil) e Ben Young (Professor da "The University of Hong Kong"), o prémio "Best Research Paper Prize 2016", o qual distingue o melhor artigo publicado na revista "Structures" (Elsevier) durante o ano de 2015.

Maria Bacharel Carreira, doutorada em Arquitetura pelo IST em 2015, recebeu com a tese de doutoramento intitulada “In-between Formality and Informality. Learning Spaces in University Context" o prémio da International Society of Educational Planning Glen Earthman Outstanding Dissertation Award. A tese foi orientada pela Professora Teresa Heitor e  co-orientada pelo Professor Pablo Campos (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).

O investigador Ricardo Birjukovs Canelas, atualmente pós-doc do CERIS, ganhou o prémio da APMTAC – Associação Portuguesa de Mecânica Teórica, Aplicada e Computacional para a melhor tese de doutoramento de 2015. A tese, intitulada ‘Numerical modeling of fully coupled solid-fluid flows’, e orientada pelo Prof. Rui M.L. Ferreira (IST, DECivil) e pelo Prof. Moncho Goméz Gesteira (Universidade de Vigo), apresenta estratégias de computação de alta performance para problemas de mecânica de fluidos e sistemas de corpos rígidos. O modelo desenvolvido permite o estudo detalhado de escoamentos complexos de misturas de material sólido e fluidos, possibilitando a abertura de novas linhas de investigação nesta área de fronteira.
